Bejeweled 2 Puzzle Game for Pocket PC Details

The Bejeweled 2 puzzle game is jewel puzzle swapping mayhem for your Pocket PC. This puzzle game pits you and your stylus against a playfield of colourful gems.

The visuals are outstanding, from the three dimensional shading on the vividly coloured gems to the translucent background on which the playfield sits.

Using your stylus, you make moves by dragging your stylus on the gem you want to swap.

The gems sit on a translucent checkerboard through which the background scenery is easily viewed.

Bejeweled 2 Gameplay

Like all great puzzle games, the gameplay is deceptively simple but extremely addictive. bejeweled 2 classic

There are four game modes -- Classic, Endless, Action and Puzzle.

The base rules apply to all modes -- you first tap on one gem with your stylus and then on an adjacent one; they then swap places.

You need to swap the gem to form at least three of the same types of jewels. Forming four gems creates a Power Gem, and 5 gems a Hyper Cube.

Once the Hypercube is formed, you can swap the gem with any adjacent gem, regardless of color. This destroys all gems of that color on the board.

The subsequent arc lightning effects when the points rack up were really amazing to watch.

Bejeweled 2 Game Modes

I enjoyed the Puzzle mode the most. When you successfully match gems they disappear (and the gems aren't replenished), unlike the other game modes.

In Puzzle mode you can only perform swaps in a particular order to "solve" the puzzle and clear the board.

You have to clear 5 playing fields to proceed through the levels, or "warp" through the planets.

Each planet in this game has a different detailed terrain for the backdrop.

Action mode pits you to match jewels against the clock, and Endless is just like its namesake.

Regardless of level, each mode gets progressively more difficult.

It requires the Pocket PC 2002 or later operating system.

Bottom Line

The Bejeweled 2 game is a keeper. Music is not that great but can be switched off. Sounds effects are superb. Awesome graphics and excellent gameplay. Maddeningly addictive. Rating: 4.8 out of 5.
